Damascus steel is high-carbon, not stainless it needs a little more attention than a regular knife, and it's worth it.

Cleaning

Always hand wash immediately after use. Dry completely before storing. Never put in the dishwasher it will damage the blade and strip the finish.

Oiling

Your knife arrives pre-oiled. After each wash, apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil to protect the blade and preserve the Damascus pattern. This prevents oxidation and keeps the layers sharp-looking for years.

Sharpening

Comes razor-sharp out of the box and stays that way for months with normal use. When it's time to sharpen, use a fine-grit whetstone. Avoid low-quality honing rods a leather strop or whetstone gives you the cleanest edge on Damascus steel.

Storage

Keep it in the included leather sheath or a dry spot. Humid drawers can cause surface patina over time.
